On the web, you’re only as important as your Google rank.
What is SEO?
SEO stands for search engine optimization—the secret to getting your website or blog to come out on top when searched online. With search engine optimization, you can improve a website’s or page’s ranking in online searches without paying for first-page, above-the-scroll placement with paid ads.
Why is SEO Important?
The higher your organization appears on a web search, the more likely users are to click on the link to your content. More clicks mean more traffic. More traffic potentially means more brand awareness and revenue.
How Do Search Engines Use It?
Search engines—Google, for example—are like clubs. To get in, you have to be on the list. In Google’s case, that list is the Google Index. An index is a list of websites and pages search engines choose from to deliver content relevant to a user’s search. Crawling software scans for new and updated sites. When the software detects new content, a website is added to or updated on the list.
